YOUR FIRST COFFEE SHOULD BE IN THE OFFICE!
Make the most of your workplace coffee machine and enjoy a delicious coffee in the comfort of your workplace in the morning!
Although many believe drinking coffee in the morning provides the most significant energy boost, a recent study indicates that doing so may not necessarily increase productivity. According to Anar Allidina, a certified dietitian, cortisol (a steroid hormone commonly known as the “stress hormone” that helps us handle stress effectively) reaches its maximum production when we wake up. The best time for consuming coffee is between 9:30 to 11:30 am when the cortisol levels in most people are lower. However, there is no conclusive studies to support this notion. Although caffeine has the potential to raise cortisol levels, the long-term consequences of this effect still need to be understood.
As a result, consuming caffeine during this time is unnecessary. Furthermore, drinking coffee in the morning can disrupt natural cortisol production, upsetting the balance of stress resilience later in the day. Habitual morning coffee drinkers may also develop a tolerance to caffeine, as the beverage replaces the natural cortisol-induced boost instead of enhancing it. To keep hydrated throughout your entire day, it is recommended to drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up. Instead of having the coffee first, you can take a cool shower or do some light exercise to energise your body and mind and save your initial coffee for the office. There is plenty of different types of coffee you can drink from your office coffee machine, once you do get to work.
If you want to experience the maximum stimulating effect of your coffee in the morning, wait at least an hour after waking up to have your first cup. Additionally, to avoid interfering with the peak cortisol production periods, consume your next caffeine boost between noon and 1:00 p.m. or between 5:50 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. This strategy can help you overcome any sluggishness you may experience in the afternoon and boost your energy levels to make for a more productive evening.
